Speeding Operation |
||
|
Good afternoon Resident,
Speeding remains one of the leading factors in serious and fatal road traffic collisions. Driving above the speed limit reduces the time available to react to hazards and increases both stopping distances and the severity of injuries when collisions occur. A vehicle travelling at just a few miles per hour over the limit can make the difference between stopping safely and being involved in a collision. Speed limits are set to protect all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists. Whether on main roads or residential streets, we encourage all drivers to check their speed regularly, allow plenty of time for journeys and drive according to the road conditions. Over the last few days, we have been carrying out speed checks around Kenley including Godstone Road, Higher Drive, Old Lodge Lane and Hayes Lane.
Today, as part of our vehicle checks, we processed a driver for no insurance and seized their vehicle. This incurs a £300 fine and 6 penalty points.
We will continue with dealing with these issues as we know it is important to the community.
